The Birth of a Website

It does have a few things in common with a birth of a child...

1. there is the dream
2. there is the need for "mates" to make it happen
3. it can take up to nine months to prepare for its introduction to the world
4. once it is "born" there is mommy exhilertion and exhaustion that follows...

I have written in previous newsletters (the precursor to blogs) how crazy it is that in order to run a successful food business in these times, one needs to become a wiz at internet technology too!

I suppose it is possible to let someone else be responsible for managing and creating all these changes, but I have found that because I want the look and feel of Jessie et Laurent to continue to reflect who we really are ~ it is best that I stay super involved. Another reason is that I so enjoy the creative art aspect of expressing things in different mediums, plus I love to constantly be challenged and to be learning new skills. I was so attached to the old website that it took me awhile to embrace the need for change, but as clients continued to request more functionality, I finally realized it was time.

My limited perspective was greatly enhanced by listening to younger (and hipper) folks. I started to get excited about how we had the opportunity to really show our products off and give an experience of the all that "Jessie et Laurent" is!

So first let me tell you about the dream. It is about staying current, thriving and of course, looking super cool. Certainly, with the chance that Henri (our almost 19 year old son) will join us and potentially succeed us in the business, the motivation of building something with long term sustainability made it all the more fun! Second, the "mates". Wow, what a dream team. To have the devotion for the project go so deep, matched by incredible talent, plus... the sweet personalities that make all the hard work as pleasant as possible, has made this an extraordinary and life enriching experience. We each are proud of our individual contribution and also realize we could of never done it without the others on the team. Remember, there is more than what the eye can see in a website creation. There is all of the "backend" part, all of the programming for not only the website but also for how all the information is received and processed in the office! With the commardarie of my team, each of us has arrived to a place where we could not of been without the help of the others. And the wonderful thing is, we have just begun! The website will continue to evolve and before long, we will have an "app" for you too!

I would be quite remiss to not thank all of you too... for once a new website launches, no matter how much you have tried to think of everything and test all the processes a million times, you don't really know how the world will react - especially since it was such a big change from the old site. So thanks to you too, for making the leap with us and for all of your support and patronage!
